Day 1 : ARRIVE CHENNAI AND DRIVE TO MAHABALIPURAM

On arrival at Chennai airport you will be met by representative of Student Architecture tour of South India and will be directly transferred to Mahabalipuram. Mahabalipuram is famous for its rock cut temple and is only 1hour drive from Chennai airport. Overnight stay is in Mahabalipuram.

Day 2 : MAHABALIPURAM

On day 2 of student architecture tour of South India visit Mahabalipuram, constructed in 7th century, this very old city possess India's awe-inspiring rock-cut fine art and is located on a scenic beach, untroubled from the horde of visitors. Mahabalipuram is famous for stupendous Shore Temple abode of fantastic engraved relief illustrating Arjuna's Penance. The rock cut temple is memorial of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. Day 3 : MAHABALIPURAM TO PONDICHERRY

Day 3 of student architecture tour of South India will drive you to Pondicherry, the town of the French people in India ever since 17th century. On arrival at Pondicherry, check in at your hotel. Here you will still find French aura with its classy streets, graceful houses, and decorative gardens. Visit Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Museum furnished with the era of French India. Day 4 : PONDICHERRY TO TANJORE

After breakfast, checkout and drive to Tanjore or Thanjavur. Explore the main attraction Brihadeshwara Temple, constructed in 11th Century by Chola King. Brihadeshwara temple is capped by sole granite stone which weighs near about 80 tons, and was taken atop by 6 km long ramp, the same technique which was used by Egyptians to built pyramids. Rest of the evening is free for relaxation. Overnight stay is in your South India tour pre booked hotel.

Day 5 : TANJORE TO CHETTINAD ON THE WAY VISIT TRICHY

Day 5 of Student architecture tour of South India will take you to one of the famous cities of South India known as Chettinad. On the way have a stop over at 2500 years old city Trichy. Trichy has amazing heritage architectural temples and forts to the city. Visit famous rock cut architectural temples as Rock Fort Temple located at the banks of river Kavery. The Rock fort temple is located on rocky part and has 100 pillar hall dedicated to Lord Shiva. Carry on driving to Chettinad for your overnight stay.

Day 6 : CHETTINAD TO MADURAI

Chettinad, home of Chettiars and there abodes or mini high walled forts were built more than 100 years ago, furnished with finest woods, imported furniture, paintings and craftsmanship. Also visit Lord Ganesha Temple which is famous for its rock cut and inimitable architecture style. Later drive to Madurai situated on the banks of river Vaigai. On arrival at Madurai, check in at your hotel. Madurai is a centre of learning and pilgrimage from hundreds of centuries. Evening is free to explore the famous heritage South India city on your own. Overnight stay is in Madurai.

Day 7 : MADURAI TO PERIYAR

In the morning have Madurai city tour visiting world famous Meenakshi Sunderashwar Temple, the largest temple complexes of India. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and houses 14 Gopurams or towers plus two golden Gopurams for main divinities. The 1000 carved pillars temple is considered important and is maintained by Government body Archaeological Survey of India. Each pillar is a monument and is carved with Dravadian sculpture. In the temple complex there are some musical pillars, when stroked they generate a different musical note. After seeing the Meenakshi Temple complexes return back to your hotel. In the evening board your overnight train for Chennai. Overnight is on board.

Day 8 : CHENNAI DEPARTURE

On arrival at Chennai Railway station you will be met by Student Architecture tour of South India representative and will be transferred to Chennai airport to board the flight for onwards journey. Tour concludes .
