Sculpture Tour of India

Destinations Covered:- Delhi > Agra > Khajuraho > Bhopal > Mumbai > Aurangabad > Delhi
Day 1 Delhi
On arrival at Delhi airport you will be met and will be transferred to your hotel where we are holding on ready occupancy basis. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 2 Delhi
Morning city tour starts with Old Delhi sites tour visiting the imperial Red Fort, a phenomenon in red sedimentary rock, Jama Masjid which is one of the gigantic mosques in Asia, both constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan, and visit Rajghat - which is built to give tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Continue your visit to New Delhi which has Presidents House -once the home of British delegates. Also drive past through India Gate, a memento raised in honour of the Indian soldiers martyred during the Afghan war; Humayun's Tomb - world heritage site and lastly Qutub Minar, created by Qutub-ud-din Aibek.
Day 3 Delhi to Agra (205 Km 3.5 hrs drive)
After breakfast drive to Agra enroute visit Sikandra Sikandra - Tomb of Akbar the Great is a significant architectural in Sikandra a hamlet of Agra. The third Mughal Emperor Akbar, himself started its creation in around 1600, to commence the building of one's tomb during one's life span. Akbar himself designed his own mausoleum. After his death, Akbar's son Jahangir finished the construction in the years 1605-1613. On arrival at Agra visit Taj Mahal. Taj Mahal constructed by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan in remembrance of his much loved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. The Taj Mahal became a World Heritage Site and was quoted as "the gemstone of Muslim art in India and one of the unanimously admired masterpieces of the world's heritage." The building of the tomb started in 1631 when Mumtaz Mahal died while giving birth to Shahjahan's 14th child and was finished in 1653. Later visit the Agra Fort which was built by Akbar. This fort is built along the river Yamuna with several buildings inside. In the fort there are many places where you can get an insight of Mughals livelihood. Continue your sightseeing by visiting famous Tomb of Itamad-ud-Daula created by Noorjehan in remembrance of her father. Overnight stay will be in Agra.
Day 4 Agra to Khajuraho (By train)
Morning board your train for Jhansi. On arrival at Jhansi railway station you will be met and will be transferred to Khajuraho. Visit the famous Khajuraho Temples. These temples are divided in two parts known as Eastern and Western Group of Temples. Eastern group of Khajuraho Temples shows the art and architecture of Jain Temples where as the most significant and enthralling are western group of temples of Khajuraho. These temples are famous for their complicated sculptures and erotic that are one of the stupendous achievements of Indian art. Optionally one can enjoy light and sound show in one of the temples of Khajuraho.
Day 5 Khajuraho to Bhopal (By train)
Morning check out from your hotel and drive to Jhansi railway station to board the train for Bhopal. On arrival at Bhopal evening is free for leisure.
Day 6 Bhopal
After an early breakfast drive for (Bhopal tour) Bhimbetka Caves. Bhimbetka caves are surrounded by the northern limits of Vindhya mountain Range. The name 'Bhim-bet-ka' means 'where Bhim sat down'. There are more than 600 caves in Bhimbetka. It took 16 years to unearth the entire vicinity covered by these caves. Bhimbetka caves had been used as asylum by people from the earliest of periods. Here you will find paintings of all ages starting from Paleolithic age to medieval age. As the time passed, the paintings became smaller, shapely and more precise. The oldest painting here is said to be around 12,000 years old, whereas the most recent is around 1000 years old. Later drive to explore Sanchi stupa- the existing example of visualization and beliefs of Emperor Ashoka. It is dotted with many Buddhist structures like pillars and stupas. Also visit the archaeological museum where it shows the famous image of four lions that once sat atop the Ashoka Pillar.
Day 7 Bhopal to Mumbai (By air travel) Elephanta Island
Morning board your flight for Mumbai. On arrival at Mumbai you will be trnasfererd to your hotel for your stay. Later visit Elephanta caves the World heritage site – Elephanta Caves These caves characterize elegantly engraved rock temples dates back to 6th century A.D which are devoted to Lord Shiva. The ramparts of these caves illustrate images of Lord Shiva in many patterns such as - creator, protector and destroyer. While returning to Mumbai visit Prince of Wales Museum, Gateway of India - a place in the past from where the people from the west came to India. Later return back to your hotel for overnight stay.
Day 8 Mumbai to Aurangabad ( By air travel ) Ajanta
Morning board the flight for Aurangabad. On arrival check in at your hotel and relax. Later drive to visit Ajanta Caves. Ajanta caves are rock-cut caves existing from the second century BC, including paintings and sculpture which are work of art of both Buddhist art and universal illustrative art. There are 30 caves in Ajanta of which some are chaitya-grihas and the remaining are monasteries. The painting demonstrates spiritual power and centre around Buddha, Bodhisattvas, events from the life of Buddha and the Jatakas. The pictures are implemented on a ground of mud-plaster in the tempera method. After wards drive to hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 9 Ellora
After breakfast leave for seeing the sights of Ellora Caves. Ellora Caves also embraces the merit of being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Ellora Caves symbolizes the chief religion, namely Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. Presently there is a sum of 34 monasteries and temples at Ellora, belongs to three different religions. Caves replicate tantric manipulation in their iconography and architectural drawing. The nine caves involve of Buddhist monasteries or Viharas. Evening will be at leisure.
Day 10 Aurangabad to Delhi (By air travel) Aurangabad / Mumbai / Delhi / UK/ Europe
Morning drive to Aurangabad airport to board your flight for onwards destination
